If you’re like many retirees, you looked forward to retiring. Escaping the world of work felt exhilarating; Not having to punch a clock every day sure has its rewards.

But a slow-paced retirement is not for everybody.  Some feel too young to retire. Just what do you do all day? Others hadn’t anticipated the new budget constraints retirement benefits would put on their lifestyle.  Who wants to spend their latter years worried over every cent?

Here’s my idea: Create your own financial plan! Retirement can offer you something out of reach for you before: start a home business!

People just like you are starting businesses and making them work. Still, even if you aren’t ready to tackle entreprenuership, consider adding to your career skills something that will make you more marketable.

Are you Interested? Here are the steps we’ll take together:

Let's Start With You

If self-employment is new to you, you’ll find that there’s a big difference between working for yourself and working for someone else. Can you do it? Of course. People just like you are starting and exceeding in business every day. One peek at your background can offer ideas about a business in which you might find success.

Should you do it?  That depends.

The good news is that much of your success is up to you.  Not everyone is cut out to become an entrepreneur. I got it. But I believe some of the skills gathered from a lifetime of work make you an invaluable employee to someone– and that someone can be you.

Finding Your Niche

What business will you choose? Nothing happens until you decide.

Your experiences, skills, and abilities should count for something! Match your background and skills to an easy-to-start home business.

What kind of home business ideas should you consider? A business that won’t require you to jump through hoops to start. Home business with low start-up fees (typically under $5000. Most times, even less).  The best home business idea for you is one that complements your skills and abilities. And perhaps you’ll be on the outlook for one that doesn’t require a lot of additional retraining,  either.
